Well - I've been threatening to do this for a while...
So welcome to my first blog.
Just some thoughts on interviewing...
As I am job hunting just now I do find it strange that recruitment agencies are mostly just like estate agents. They require little training, don't really have empathy for their clients and are obviously too busy to ring candidates back. So, they need managing far more than most people realise. This makes it almost a full time job in itself. This sounds like a whinge so I won't name names as I might alienate them!
There has been one notable exception to that rule so far - a recruiter called Direct Recruitment (http://www.direct-recruitment.co.uk), especially a lady there called Sarah Owens who is one of the directors. I know lots of people who have benefited from her introductions and I have yet to meet anyone who thinks they are less than superb. This makes her company unique in my experience. Good on yer.
I am enjoying the experience of having 8AM interviews - tomorrow is my third in a week. Although I probably don't classify myself as a morning person, there are some benefits: You are better focused - there is less time for other things to distract you that day; there is less lag time between your research and your interview so you should remember your stuff better; the interviewer whould be fresh!
